A recent conference on antisemitism at Grove City College brought me back to western Pennsylvania, and I never miss an opportunity to photograph the beautiful Amish community of New Wilmington. Although rainy, windy and quite chilly, the difficult weather for photography forced me to appreciate challenges the Amish must face without modern conveniences (a warm enclosed car, for example!) that I take for granted. Yet the several folks I chatted with had attitudes of joy. And they rarely failed to wave as I passed by!

The last day of my visit offered peeks of sunshine which brought out lovely colors of spring coming alive.
